Why we started Hapipod

The UK has a growing crisis at both ends of the age spectrum. Millions of older homeowners rattle around in houses too big for one person, while young people in their 20s and 30s struggle to afford rent in the cities where they work.

Hapipod was built on a simple idea: what if those two groups could help each other?

A host gains company, help around the home, and a modest contribution to their bills. A lodger gets an affordable, stable place to live — and often, a friendship they didn't expect.

It sounds simple. And in many ways, it is. But getting the match right matters enormously. That's what we've spent years building.
